Olde Bar & Elfreth’s Alley Wedding Photographer – Lauren & Ryan

Lauren and Ryan’s wedding day had the perfect amount of winter weather and right amount of LOVE that Philadelphia is known for. The three of us felt like more than wedding photographers that blustery Saturday. It was almost as if we were doing photojournalism for celebrities on a special city tour, stopping traffic at some of the city’s most famous spots and having random strangers smile and give warm congratulations to the beautiful couple.
Our day as Wedding Photographer started out at the beautiful Sheraton Society Hill right at the foot of Penn’s Landing and the Delaware River. The beautiful hotel, known for its grand atrium is nestled between cobblestone streets where The Free Society of Traders lead the start of the U.S. economy under the direction of William Penn.  Once the couple prepared themselves, they opted for an intimate reveal in historic Elfreth’s Alley Wedding Photos, a street in Philadelphia which is referred to as “Our nation’s oldest residential street.” Ryan waited for Lauren patiently between remarkably beautiful Georgian and Federal-style houses dating back to 1702. Lauren entered the cobblestone lined alley where tourists began to take her picture, everyone was in awe of her beautiful dress and perfectly arranged bouquet. Their first look was so rich in emotion, you could see the love on their faces. From that moment we knew the rest of the day as wedding photographers would be easy, we were capturing true love.

The next stop was St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, also known as Old St. Mary’s. It was yet another spot rich in history with a story set as far back as 1763. The church served as the diocesan cathedral for many years, during which time George Washington visited on several occasions. The beautiful church is styled with a Gothic brick facade on the exterior and the interior of the church features a balcony/choir loft which extends around three sides of the building. Guests were amazed at how breathtaking the church was, until the moment Lauren walked down the aisle everyone was in awe. Lauren and Ryan tried to hold back happy tears as they grasped each others hands before the Monsignor. The ceremony had lots of truly funny, random moments and equally emotional ones. We were thrilled to be wedding photographers for such a meaningful union between two people and couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.

When it came time to party, we headed to The Olde Bar for one unique reception. Located in the famous Old Original Bookbinder’s Philadelphia building, Chef Jose Garces‘ saloon brought a special retro style to wedding day. The Olde Bar set the mood for romantic photos and great exchanges between family and friends. Seafood was on the menu and the polka was the dance of the night, with nearly every guest taking part in the festivities. We could see that Lauren and Ryan were touched by the heartfelt toasts and well wishes from their loved ones, so many great moments were captured at their reception. Everyone could see that Lauren and Ryan were having a blast on their big day, and that’s all that matters!
