When I initially spoke to Michele and David about being their wedding day photographer, I asked them what they had in mind for a Getting to Know You Session. I love that they quickly came up with Bear Mountain in Harriman State Park. I heard the word mountain and I got really excited. While still on the phone with them I quickly looked up the location and was wowed by the beauty of the mountain. For me this was a real ‘yes’ moment. I knew right then and there that I just had to be their wedding photographer!
A couple weeks after that initial conversation and there we were standing on the summit of Bear Mountain. There is something totally serene about standing on a top of a mountain, I just conquered the world and nothing can stop me now! (Not like we actually climbed it or anything.)
The drive up to the top was filled with so much excitement as I climbed higher along the twisty road way up to the top of Bear Mountain and looked down at the Hudson Valley below. The crisp air and the colored leaves really solidified the fact that fall is here in New York State and winter is coming up fast. Along the way I found a spot in the woods with a large fallen tree and the amazing warmth and back light of the sun. Michele, David and I climbed down a rather steep embankment that totally reminded me how I never hike or rock climb and that I really need to invest in a good pair of shoes just for these purposes.
We finished off at the lake to round out our session with some quality cuddle time and some cold butts after sitting on the rocks. Michele and David are truly adventurous people and I can’t thank them enough for taking me on this awesome adventure and having total trust in my vision.
